So tempting

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

Many of you know that even though my warranty replacement Dell Precision M60 laptop has been a great machine, I’d love to have a Powerbook. Today, Apple announced a new laptop, sporting an Intel dual core processor, to be released in February. The new MacBook Pro looks hott, and at $1999 or $2499 is very […]

Is this me?

My friend Michael created a South Park character that he says is me. I don’t know what to think. Use the comments to post your thoughts.

Final reflections on Passion 06

Monday, January 9th, 2006

Top three things about Passion 06: Sharing what God has done at Virginia Tech through vtONE this semester with Zack, one of vtONE’s founders and learning how so much of what happened this semester is in response to prayers that began several years ago. The commissioning prayer in the last main session, previously posted about […]

Kneel Prayer Journey

Sunday, January 8th, 2006

One of the highlights of Passion 06 was the prayer journey. The prayer journey consisted of ten prayer stations in a room illuminated by candles and indirect light, with soft worship music playing in the background. The stations were very meaningful, especially the ordering of what to pray for from the start to the end of the journey. I spent somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour going through the journey. I haven’t been in the habit of taking extended times for prayer, but I can tell you that I will be working on setting aside more time for prayer. It says in the Bible that “you do not have because you do not ask” (James 4:2). I don’t want that to be true in my life!

On a related note, if there’s anything that I can be praying for in your life, please send me an email.

“God is not safe, but he is good”

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

The last main session at Passion was a very emotional time for me. Louie Giglio talked about personal calling, focusing on how all Christ followers are called to be full time ministers, regardless of occupation. He explained how we’re instructed to reflect Jesus in our whole lives, whether we are called to be on a […]

Passion 06: Day 3

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

This morning: Small family group with just three of us, but the best one yet. Because there was time set aside to do eight people’s worth of sharing, we were able to actually have some good discussion with everyone involved and then an extended time of praying for each other and praying for the day. […]

Passion 06: Day 2

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

This morning: Family group was interesting this morning (5 girls + me, but still a cool time). Worship was good again with Chris Tomlin leading. Louie took a cheap shot at all of Chris’ over used songs. Chris responded with new songs. I do have to say that I really don’t see what the hype […]

Better way to keep up with what’s happening at Passion 06

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

I will continue to write about what happens at Passion 06, but I’m going to focus more on the people I see, new people I meet, community groups, and breakout sessions. For what goes on in the main sections, Louie and the Passion team’s continued blogging at http://268blog.blogspot.com/ is more complete than what you’ll find […]

Great first night at Passion

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

I need some sleep, so I’m not going to write much tonight. Main session with acoustic worship, Louie Giglio’s teaching, prayer triangles, Charlie Hall leading worship. Community groups (the size of a normal conference) and family groups (8 people). Also got to go to a Hymns: Ancient and Modern concert as a late night event.

Happy New Year!

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

Just a short post to let you know I’m still alive. Hope that everyone had a happy and safe new year’s celebration. I’m starting off on my way to the Passion conference in Nashville. The weather looks like it will be wonderful, and I’m very excited about the conference. If I have internet in the […]
